Over the last 18 months, the Black Belt Poker League has been one of our most celebrated features, and the last League was the most popular to date with a total of 147 participants and a minimum of 50 runners for each leg.

Black Belt Poker are therefore proud to announce that
League VII is just around the corner with Leg 1 commencing this Tuesday evening at 7.30pm The event is a $5 No Limit Hold 'em freezeout and runs over eight legs with players welcome to join at any point.

League VI was a hotly contested affair with
Mark '99Ranny' Ranson taking top honours and winning an all-expenses paid trip to the Cardiff studios to watch the final of Late Night Poker unfold. In the process, he met several pros including John Duthie and Ben Roberts, and got to watch Phil Ivey play from the comfort of the green room.

This time, we're entering the festive spirit early by offering the Champion an invite to the Black Belt Poker Christmas party as a special guest of 2008 Irish Open Champion Neil Channing. At the party, the lucky winner will get to play, chat and dine with pros such as UKIPT winner
Jamie Burland and bracelet winner Richard Ashby , before participating in a 1,500 SNG freeroll with the Black Belt Poker sponsored team.

The League is open to all Yellow Belts and above, but don't fret, becoming Yellow Belt is easy. Simply download the poker client , open an account and make a deposit with the cardroom. When your cardroom and community accounts have been
linked , you'll be able to enter the opening Leg in 'Scheduled' > 'Black Belt Tournaments' > 'Black Belt Poker League VII'.

The Black Belt Poker Leagues are renowned for their combination of competitiveness and friendly atmosphere, and it would be great to see you involved. Not only is this a fantastic opportunity to meet and talk poker with Black Belt Poker's finest, but make the top 10 and we'll also award Belt Points and a month's subscription to acclaimed tutorial site
    DeucesCracked !

I'm planing on loading up some cash to Blackbelt this week to play a few of these "high roller" tournaments with massive discounted entrance fees.

I'm playing the Friday 7th Jan 50%($50 +$5 now) discount 60kGTD freeze out.

Also the Saturday 15th Jan 35%($35 + $3.50 now) discount with 35k GTD Freze out.

And if I get any success in any of these two I shall play the big one on Sunday 16th $100 + $9 instead of $500 with a GTD pot of at least 200k.

There is also discounted Sats into these available on BlackBelt!

Click the banner above if you fancy playing these.

Following the conclusion of our latest Black Belt Poker League, we're due a bit of a breather.

But don't worry as League XV is now less than a week away!

Our 15th outing may be our most alluring yet with one lucky player winning an exclusive Nottingham Live package. Not only will our Champion play the Main Event, but we'll also put them up in a hotel and throw in some spending money so they can enjoy the weekend in style.

The remaining top 10 in the standings will receive Belt Points and satellite tokens, whilst all leg winners will be entered into a Second Chance SNG in which we'll be giving away yet another $220 seat absolutely free!

What's more, if you participate in all eight legs, we'll credit your account with 200 Belt Points just for turning up!
Kick-off is at 19:30 on Tuesday, May 22 and costs just $5+0.50 to enter. For further details on the event, see our promotions page

If you can't wait until next week for your poker fix, then tonight, at 20:30, you can get your teeth into our $15+1.50 Deepstack Mulligan.

    CLOSED DOWN - BREAKING NEWS

Message below from owner Neil Channing :

Today is a very sad day for me. It is with heavy heart that I have to announce that the Black Belt Poker skin will cease to exit from midnight this Friday February 28th.

It's now almost six years since I came up with an idea which I thought at the time could lead to a shake-up in the UK online poker market. Since that time I have worked tirelessly to try and develop the project and to build the Black Belt brand. I've been helped in that endeavour by some excellent staff, some loyal and patient investors and a fantastic community of players who I hope have all had plenty of fun along the way.

I personally have invested a large sum of money and an enormous amount of my time and energy in attempting to make this project succeed. Sadly sometimes in life you just have to accept that things are not working and you need to move on. That time has come with Black Belt Poker.

The business is still running as a Ltd company and we are simply ceasing to trade. We will be switching off the skin and no longer operating a poker site. I'm currently in discussions with another iPoker skin and hope to bring you news on how your Spending Points can be redeemed through them very shortly. There is no question of any players not receiving their balances which are safely held by our partner and cashier cage provider Boyle Poker, in a ring-fenced bank account. To get the money from your account you simply need to log on prior to Friday and withdraw as normal. If you fail to do this by the time the skin is inoperative you will definitely still be able to receive your money but you'll need to contact Boyles directly. They have a list of the players who have balances with the relevant amounts and I also have a copy of that list. It may take slightly longer to get paid if you wait until Saturday or later as Boyles will not be able to simply refund your card and they may need extra details from you such as ID.

If you have any queries regarding withdrawals, or any other questions you wish to raise, I can be emailed at neil@blackbeltpoker.com or you can contact Boyles support@blackbeltpoker.com or by calling 0800 316 0441.

All that remains is for me to thank everyone who invested, who worked hard for us, who were sponsored by us, who participated in poker discussions on our website and particularly those who played on Black Belt Poker.

    It is a real shame.

Although I wasn't a Black Belt regular, I know a ton of people who were and loved the community feel (like you Sef). Hopefully there will be something similar in the near future.

It was an interesting concept it has to be said. Very hard to find a USP in this industry but they managed it. As an affiliate though the set up was not great and this perhaps hurt them in some ways. At least they have done the closing in a very honourable way which is to be commended.

Yeah one thing that can be said about Neil is he is a true gent and everything he does is for the love of the game and not the pros. He proves it time and time again with having a go at the "pros" at the WSOP and everything else. Such a shame this hasn't worked out for him. I'm sure the community aspect of blackbelt will stay alive in some form.
